THE MOST INTERESTING EUROPEAN INDIE BRANDS YOU NEED TO FOLLOW.
SCG handpicks some the most innovative brands to come out of Europe; including Casablanca, Patta and Thames London.
Most skate and streetwear-led brands are associated with American culture — Supreme New York, Alife, ANYthing — the usual household names are pretty much all synonymous with New York underground scenes and faces.
Europe has been laying low in this game, and low-key fostering some really interesting names that have skyrocketed to fame in the last couple of years. Here, we’ve picked our favourites, that we think you should know about.
First on our list is French-Moroccan lifestyle brand Casablanca, serving up tennis club leisurewear. Their creative director Charaf Tajer has crafted a merge of 60s-era Casablancan high life and modern hip-hop culture.
Next is Thames London, by it-boy skater Blondie McCoy. Shooting to fame at age 19, he rose up from London’s Southbank skate scene and was scouted as a model. He immersed himself into the fine art and high fashion world pretty quickly, modelling for Burberry and collaborating with Damian Hirst. You can follow him here.
Founded in 2004 by Edson Sabajo and Guillaume Schmidt, Patta’s world has expanded beyond the standard streetwear ‘march’ getup of t-shirt and caps and into some pretty enviable collabs. Their most notable being the Nike Air Jordan 7, Ennerre the Italian heritage football company and Asics. We look forward to seeing where else they reach in the coming years.
More from The Netherlands: Amsterdam's Olaf Hussein fuses contemporary street-wear with a more sophisticated edge. Follow them here.
Little did you know, Daily Paper once started off as a blog. The brand was established by three friends; Hussein, Jefferson and Abderrahmane who all shared a love for underground music, art and culture which set the tone for the brand to grow into a well known name.
